BRTC - Not such a good look:

Yo!

This is going to be a short post.

Just though you guys would be interested in these two pics that I took. These have been taken in the morning right after I’ve applied my bb cream and other stuff, around the 3rd week since using BRTC.

I wanted to show you guys, how white BRTC can make your face look, in comparison to your neck. BUT because I took these shots straight after applying bb cream, it wouldn’t have given the cream much time to ‘fuse’ into my skin tone.. so although the pics show that there is a large difference in colour, it may not look that bad later on (unfort, didn’t take any pics during the rest of the day)…. OR maybe I applied a little too much BRTC OR my face has just gotten that lighter, and hence BRTC made my face look even whiter…???

BUT regardless, this is what you can possibly expect, if you use BRTC. Sometimes I do actually feel a little self conscious of the fact that my face and neck are different shades, but I guess you could say, this is what I have to sacrifice for beauty? A worthy exchange? =P

BRTC Week 1-2 Evaluation

Hey!

Yes I know, another v late post... but having major issues to deal with atm. I think Im going through a mid life crisis, but excluding the fact that I'm not that old yet... *sigh* You know the saying, "life is like a box of chocolate" --> I think im getting all the crappy chocolates atm. =P ohh well.. lol.

Anyway... back to the topic.....

Umm.. I've been applying BRTC Perfect Protect bb cream EVERYDAY! And I mean, everyday. Even on days where Im not going out and just bumming at home, I'd still put BRTC on. I figured, I should use it everyday, so at least when reviewing BRTC and other bb creams I'd know that I've been applying them consistently for the same amount of time.

So far, its been going well. No adverse reactions (ie. No major break outs) yet, so Im happy! As I described in the past post, blending BRTC out on my face can be difficult... but apart from that, its been fine. Sometimes, I feel like my face is really cakey tho.. ie. my face looks a lot whiter compared to that of my neck.

WEEK 1:
After using BRTC for a week, I didn't notice any differences or changes... I do have photos, but I really don't see anything... so i don't see any point in posting them. Tho, i think my face already looks kind of lighter.

WEEK 2:
At around the 2nd week of usage, I did notice that my face seemed whiter and it kind of felt smoother. My skin tone also seemed to have evened out a bit. I still do get pimples tho... but since using BRTC, the types of pimples I get aren't those painful red big whiteheads or anything ... Prior to using BRTC, I have been getting blemishes on my face... so I can't really say whether BRTC had an effect in that area....?

My younger sister also noticed that my face looked smoother... - so that shows I wasn't imagining things.. hahha

I still don't notice any drastic changes, particularly in the side views.. when comparing the before and after pics... but Im going to post them anyway...

NOTE, regarding the photos:
Ummm... firstly, when taking these weekly aftershots, Ive tried to take them at the same time of the day so that the lighting is similar.. so an easier comparison can be made between the photos. However, it didn't always turn out the way I wanted...

SO, before you look at and compare these photos... guys.. you gotta keep in mind that yeah... it may look like my face is a LOT lighter... but it may not necessarily be the case. I suggest, you should first compare the colour of my neck. COZ I haven't applied bb cream to that area, so that should be the same tone.

WEEK 2 - BRTC: BEFORE AND AFTER PHOTOS
One thing that I've noticed is that, the left side of my face seem to attract more pimples and is more problematic that my right side. Weird yeh? kekeke

But anyway, here they are....

It looks as though BRTC has helped to even out, particularly my left cheek region a bit. Don't see much difference in terms of the blemish scars on my forehead. You can actually see more pimples developing between my eyebrows. Though, BRTC seems to have helped get rid of the 2 pimples/red marks on my chin.

What do you guys think? I reckon overall, my face looks a bit better. =P

PS. the redish mark you see on the right side of my face, near my nose is there because I had a pimple there that I ended up picking... =P

*It’s probably better to click on these pics to see a larger, more detailed view. O/w you wont be able to see the slight differences at all*

Ohhh, btw, in regards to these photos, I haven't applied any moisturiser or anything to my face when they were taken. So it's entirely just me, my bare face.

BRTC Initial Application

In general, one of the great properties of the bb creams available is that, regardless of the shade of your fair skin, a few minutes/hours after application, it readily absorbs into your skin and hence, fuses to your own skin shade. And so that's why there's a limited choice in the shades of the creams.

BRTC comes in one shade only. The only other bb creams that I know of, that does come in 2 different shades are Skinfood and Missha.

BRTC BB CREAM:
The BRTC Perfect Recover Balm, in terms of its consistency is quite thick and creamy - think of Nivea creams, around that thickness.

Initially, after seeing the colour of the cream, I was actually quite shocked, coz it looked like a greyish ivory colour and I really was worried about whether the colour would be okay for me...

APPLICATION:

The very first time that I used the cream, I just pretty much slapped/slopped it (not literally =P) on my face and I can tell you, that is a BIG NO NO *shakes head*. My face ended up looking really really white and it looked really bad!!!

You're suppose to only squeeze a small amount of the cream, around the size of a pea and dot some on your forehead, nose, chin and on each side of your cheeks and then blend.

Visit here and here, to see how its done.

I don't think there's really a right or wrong way of applying bb cream. It really depends on your own preference, and also the fact that I can't read Korean (well, I studied Korean for one semester only so I just know the basics =) ). So I can't really tell you what's the correct way... hahah

But from what I've gathered, there are two main ways to apply it and that depends on what you want to achieve. If you're looking for:

1. Healing properties --> you should apply bb cream before you apply your sunscreen (because some bb creams don't have sunscreen, others have varying degrees of SPF+)

2. Cover imperfections --> you should apply the bb cream after sunscreen

I personally found that, after putting moisturiser on (because my cheeks become dry sometimes, the cream that I use is generally very moisturising), once I dot the BRTC bb cream on my face, it helps me to blend the cream easier. However, because the bb cream itself is quite thick, it still can be difficult at times, and I often feel like I'm stretching out my skin when doing so, especially around my delicate eye region. =(

As to whether, the cream sinks in and matches my skin tone after a few mins/hours... I'm really undecided... Putting the cream on alone, it makes my face a lot whiter and so, because I don't like that... I would then put on my tinted moisturiser on, to give me a bit more colour... well, I think it does... =)

Coz I don't like how it makes my skin whiter, I wouldn't ever wear it alone, unless I was gonna stay at home the whole day.

But if you don't mind it making your face a shade lighter, then its fine to wear it on its own. Otherwise, you can use it as a base to your foundation. If you feel that the coverage isn't enough, I don't see why you can't mix your liquid foundation with the bb cream. Its all up to you. =)

SO, this is what I do:
  • Moisturiser
  • BRTC bb cream
  • Tinted Moisturiser (already has sunscreen in it, so I don't need to apply additional sunscreen)
  • Blush
  • Powder - must, coz my face becomes a bit shiny after all those layers >.<

*I've just realised that the writing below the pics look a bit small. The photos on the left are from my previous post. It's just me + Tinted moisturiser. The photos on the right, are pics of me with BRTC bb cream + Tinted moisturiser.*

Anyone notice a difference???

Hm.. From observing the pictures above, I don't really see much difference at all. Yah!!! I think, with BRTC + Tinted moisturiser, it does make my skin slightly lighter and I guess, it kinds of even out my skin a little bit more....?

REMOVAL:

You remove bb cream, like any other makeup product that you'd remove from your face.

Initial thoughts / hopes of BRTC bb cream

Ok, so as the title suggests, this post will be about my initial thoughts, worries and hopes of using BRTC bb cream. SO I guess this particular posting will be more for me to document and track my thoughts n stuff, than for you guys.

But, this section is an important aspect to have in any form of experimentation, so do have a read! =P

My hopes...
Basically what do I hope to achieve? I guess like everyone else, it'd be great to have a clearer complexion, free from blemishes and scarring.

So I hope that, via using bb cream, it'll help to fade out some of my pre-existing scars, even out my skin tone, especially within my cheek regions.

And if it makes my complexion clearer/more flawless, I'd possibly be able to decrease the amount of makeup products that I currently use --> meaning more sleep time for me and I'd save money too!!! hahahah

----------------------------------------

A post is always more interesting with pictures no? Therefore, I decided to post some pictures of Asian actresses/singers that I like! These females all seem to have great skin, with no blemishes/scarring... Well, none that can be seen anyway.

Is it realistic for me to hope that one day, I'll have skin like theirs???? Hmm.. ohh well, one can always dream can't they!? =P

Ok, first up is Yoon Eun Hye. I first saw her in Princess Hour/Goong, a popular Korean drama. She is one hot chick and she's so versatile, from hot sex kitten to cute and sweet!! Love her!

Yoon Eun Hye, with makeup:

Yoon Eun, without makeup:

Rainie Yang. She's a Taiwanese singer/actress. Although, I personally thought she was a bit melodramatic in the drama Devil besides you, I started liking her from then onwards. Tho, Why Why Love (her most recently released drama)... I duno, unfortunately, didn't like it that much.... Honto ni kaiwaii desu ne!?

And one other Taiwanese actress that I like is Ariel Lin. Loved her in the drama, It started with a kiss.. I have to admit, at times, the slow witted Xiang Qing did annoy me, but I guess that shows how good Ariel's acting is!!!! =) Also very cute and sweet.

See what I mean, when I said in my previous post, that if you have pale/fair skin, putting makeup on gives you more colour, otherwise sometimes you look washed out.

----------------------------------------

My initial thoughts...
I don't have many expectations, as there are so many beauty products that promote this and that, but whereas they actually do what they say often remains to be seen sometimes...

  • But I am optimistic that bb cream will live up to its hype and do what it says. Even if it does 'a little'... I think I'll still be satisfied... I don't expect to see a HUGE difference, as oppose to Miao, as my face isn't that bad to begin with...

  • The ONLY thing, I don't really like or want is their whitening properties... coz Im seriously pale/white as it is!!!! Sometimes... I think, Im in the wrong country. lol. As in Aus, people prefer the tan look, whereas in Asia, people prefer the pale look.
I don't mind having pale skin, I'd actually rather have pale coloured skin than tan myself and age/wrinkles faster due to the sun. But I don't wanna look like a ghost either.. hmm...

  • I've also read that for a few individuals, particularly those with sensitive skin, who used bb cream, it caused them to break out. I'm praying that I'm not one of them but for me, but I think it should b ok for me.. For anyone who does have sensitive skin and/or are worried.. should do a small patch test first!

  • Im also a bit curious... to see if there are any after effects once you stop using bb cream...
I've heard SKII is really good and improves your skin, but once you stop using it, it makes your skin worse... Dunno if thats true, but since hearing that, I've avoided that product line immediately.

THO, having said that, has anyone seen their spray on foundation??? It is pricey, coz you gotta buy the electronic spray machine + the actual foundation.. I think it was a couple of hundred buxs, from memory. But its soo cool! And how quickly would that b... just spray it on.. and you're done. lol. If I had the dosh, that is definitely one thing I would buy. *dreams*

Till next time. Take care!

Skin History and Daily Face Regime

Alright, so before I start posting my experiences on using BRTC bb cream and after pics, I need to first write about the condition of my face.

As I stated in the Rules and Regulations post, the after effect pics and things that I've experienced is based purely on me and thus, results may not necessarily be seen in you guys. And, really... this review is very subjective as there are so many other factors that need to be taken into consideration, such as the environment that I'm living in, my diet, lifestyle, etc... that will affect the condition of my face at that time. So, you guys just need to remember and be wary of that when looking at the before and after pictures!

ok, so lets get started then... um...

MY SKIN HISTORY
Straight through high school, I was actually one of the lucky girls. I barely had any pimples, but I did get them. However, at most it'd only be a few, not many. As a comparasion, my older sister, all throughout high school had an extreme acne problem, her face was very red, blotchy with red painful pimples everywhere.

But anyway, once I hit around 19-20 years old, I started to notice a lot of changes... My cheeks initially began to start peeling, and since then, they can be quite dry. - Which is a major pain in the bum, coz when I put foundation on, often you could see the skin peeling...

At the moment, since I've turned 21-22, my cheeks don't peel as much as it used to and it's a lot better. I've also, however, actually been getting small pimples/bumps on my face, more than I've had before and hence more scars. (coz... ok, I know this is a BIG no no... but I kind of like picking my black heads... I remember, at a lecture once, the lecturer was talking aobut acnes... and he even said, picking them was fun. Then quickly said 'oh... shouldn't have told you that, coz you shouldn't pick them'... LOL

But nah, I just feel that, once I pick them, the gunk is out and then it can start to heal... but I've noticed that, once I hit my 20s, it takes LOADS longer for my pimple scars to disappear... >.<>

So..... *drum roll*... I guess it's now Picture time.... .
.
.
.
.
.
.

OK, so enough, here goes....

ME - BARE FACED [BEFORE]
*Note: for people who have slow internet connection, maybe try avoid double clicking on the images for a detailed view... coz the images might take too long to load..? Just a suggestion*

Um... it feels a bit weird critiquing myself, and my trouble zones.... but, um... ok, you can see some redness around the cheeck regions, a fair few pimples scars on my forehead, a few pimples beginning to develop in some areas.

I don't think my skin's really that bad... but I mean, it could always do with improvements... Really don't like my side view tho... -.-
So basically, I guess my trouble zone areas include:

  • Pimples
  • Scars
  • Uneven skintone
  • Dry cheeks

ME - DAILY LOOK [AFTER]
Basically, for my everyday look, I don't do much or apply anything flashy. I like to keep things natural. So typically, this is all I'll put on in the morning:
  • Toner 'Witch hazel (sometimes, when I feel like it...)
  • Moisturiser
  • Dove Tinted Moisturiser in Beige
  • Blush - Maybelline cream blush
  • Maybelline Shine free powder (depends on if the moisturiser I use is oily or not)
  • Curl my lashes (a MUST DO, I seriously feel weird and self conscious for the entire day if I don't)
  • Shiseido Mascara base and Lash Lift Mascara

If I'm REALLY lazy, I might skip on the mascara...

So this is what I look like after getting ready in the morning...

I think my skin's more evened out, and since, Im naturally fair skinned, I do think that using tinted moisturier gives me more colour... coz sometimes I'd look too pale otherwise...

What do you guys think? Look better with tinted moisturser than bare, yeh?

PS. my nose is a bit flaky. Its not normally flaky, only because I got slightly sunburnt on my nose the other day... =P

ME - SPECIAL OCCASION LOOK
Once in a while though, when I feel like it, I might put on some brown eyeliner and/or shimmery silver eyeliner.

For a special occasion, I usually put on some eyeliner, a very sheer amount of shimmery natural eye shadow and maybe some fake eyelashes..(I've just started using them, they're soo cool!!!). I've never really worn coloured eyeshadow (ie. Green, blue, brown...) out, mainly because I guess... I'm not really confident in my skills and don't particularly like to stand out... NONE of my close high school friends wear any makeup whatsoever, so even, when we go out and I've just got some eyeliner on, sometimes I feel really self conscious, that I've got too much stuff on my face. =P

Tho, I have been experimenting at home!!!! lol. I've been lurking and reading people's post in ABB (Asian Beauty Blog) and some of the girls there are sooooo good at applying their makeup!!! *jealous* One of my favourites is a girl named Stephie! She's soo cute, and they all really have inspired me to play around with more bold colours. So, when I'm bored, I'd play around with makeup at home, then wash it off... hahah But I think I have a improved a bit in that department.

When the next special occasion comes along, I might try applying something more brighter.. we'll see... =P

Peace!!!! heheheh

Update...

Hey guys!... I know it's been over a week since my last post... I had planned to post at least once or more per week.. but couldn't. Sorry!

Long story short, I'm having a major computer+memory problem at the moment.

The file where I keep all my photos, info, draft post for this blog has become so large that I can't keep it on the laptop that I'm using... So I moved the entire file to my ipod and had it backed up on my pc.

Unfortunately, my computer's been playing up again and I couldn't seem to start it up at all last week. Usually, if I try and it doesn't work... I'd just switch the power off, then try again in a few hours and the pc generally starts up... However, no matter what I did, it wouldn't work.. =(

Any ideas to why my pc's like that? Im such a computer-illiterate!

AND that is why, I've decided that, it'd be good if my "potential husband" to be, in terms of their career, would be either:
  • Someone who knows how to fix computers - so they can fix mine
  • An accountant - can do my taxes and would know all the tricks to get more money back
  • An architect - so that he can build my dream house
  • Mechanic - so he can fix my car and so that I won't get jibbed
lol.. I know.. hmm the possibility of that happening...?? guess it all depends on fate!

Some of my friends say that they'd love to marry a chef so that they can eat yummy food all the time. But I reckon, sure... they can cook, but after cooking all day at work... wouldn't they be too tired/lazy to cook for you at home??? But yeah, having a chef around is always good.. YUMMM FOOD

Hahaha, but anyway... back to the issue on hand. Regarding my ipod, I don't know why... but the laptop that Ive been using... it just won't recognise my ipod anymore (as well as any other computer)... So I can't even reset the ipod to its original settings... resetting it to its original settings mean that I'd lose all the data in my ipod, but atm I just want it to work... =(

BUT.. the pc's finally working again (for now...) and hence I can start posting again... but for how long, I really don't know??? I guess, I really need to think of a better alternative to store/back up my files tho... and need to burn all the photos off my laptop, coz at the moment, that is what's using up all the memory.... >.<

But anyway, keep a look out, coz the next bb cream related post will be coming out very soon!!!

I promise!!!!
